Jude's Story
Jude Hassan overcame a near-decade long struggle with addiction to become a trusted source of help and information in the region. Prior to Hassan's downfall, he was an honor roll student, an up and coming athlete, and the son to two educators. His father, a substance abuse counselor, educated Hassan on the perils of addiction at a young age. Unfortunately, peer pressure and the need to fit in got the best of Jude. At age fifteen, he began abusing marijuana. Shortly thereafter, he discovered heroin. Needless to say, Jude lost everything.
After hitting countless dead-ends, Jude managed to turn his life around. He recently celebrated eight years in recovery. As a Substance Abuse Speaker and Drug Prevention Speaker, Jude has spoken over 150 times to audiences of all sizes. His powerful story serves as an emotional plea to avoid the mistakes he made, to be comfortable with who you are, and to never succumb to peer pressure.
In addition to speaking, Jude works as an Outreach Coordinator for Bridgeway Behavioral Health, a treatment center in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the co-founder of Suburban Junky, Inc., and the author of Suburban Junky: From Honor Roll to Heroin Addict.
